In 1997, Iman and David Bowie hosted a dinner and auction of celebrity designed plates to benefit Children's Defense Funds'- Black Community Crusade for Children. The plates were designed by the following celebrities and humanists: Rosa Parks, Mohammed Ali, Jessye Norman, Robert DeNiro, Eddie Murphy, Vanessa Williams, Whoppi Goldberg, Carl Lewis, Whitney Houston, Spike Lee, Dr. Maya Angelou, Bill Cosby, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Oprah Winfrey, Rosie O'Donell and Madonna.
