I - IMAN MAKEUP LAUNCH

After 1 1/2 years of hard work to create a fun, fresh full line of bold uninterrupted colour makeup, the launch arrived with a lot of fanfare and anxiety!!! But it was a huge success!!! On May 16th, 2000, we introduced the line to the public with an event at Sephora Rockefeller Center, New York City....We created the I - Girl Lounge for makeup, makeover and music...and to our delight 700 customers attended the event!!! A disc jockey played funky music, makeup artists gave makeovers and advice and camera girls snapped polaroid pictures of customers with me!!! I agonized over what to wear....although I am seven months pregnant, the public is still expects me to wow them.....I had custom designed metal mesh maternity halter top made by NOIR, NYC.....as WWD reported, ".....maternity halter that most nonpregnant people wouldn't be brave enough to wear..." The outfit was a complete success with everyone as it made me look pregnant and sexy at the same time!!! I actually had a wonderful but exhausting time....I was shattered the next day and spent the whole day at home recuperating from my big night out!!! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! LATER....WITH CYNTHIA GARRETT

My dear friend Cynthia Garrett was in New York taping her show for May sweeps and asked me if she could interview me which of course I accepted....She is young and hip and although I don't watch the show since it comes on quiet late in the evening, way passed my bedtime, I knew instinctively what kind of interviewer she would be... but to my surprise, and pleasantly I might add, she surpassed my expectations....she was fun, easy, informative, playful and intelligent!!!

NYLON.....

I have been quiet a fan of Nylon Magazine since it came on the scene almost a year ago.....so when I sent them my press kit for I -IMAN Makeup and they came to my office to see the line and actually liked it, I knew I was onto something unique as they see all the makeup lines that are available on the market!! When we discussed a story on the makeup I suggested to be photographed by Helena Christensen, to some of you she is one of the most beautiful supermodels around, but she is also the Creative Director of Nylon Magazine, a gifted photographer and a young new mother to seven month old Mingus!!! I called her in Europe where she lives and she jumped at the idea of photographing especially now that I am pregnant.....in New York, we did the photoshoot and I must say it was quiet different being photographed by a woman and especially a model because, especially Helena, she was interested more in the essence of me rather than the exterior of me, she was very easy, casual and captivating and most importantly fast!!! I will share the photos with you once they come out in Nylon but for now click here for more photos of the shoot.
